I am a bricoleur. By definition this is someone
who makes creative and resourceful use of whatever materials are at hand (regardless
of their original purpose). The diversity of the materials I am drawn to
and collect take me down a variety of paths creatively. The designs for my
greeting card line, Bricolage, make use of an eclectic assortment of antique
imagery and textures. My up-cycled
jewelry creations for the shop I share with Beth DeScala on Etsy, called SalonVintique, are constructed from vintage discards. And my shadow box assemblages start with detritus I find beach combing. The common thread in these pursuits is my
ability to see beauty in society’s outcasts.
My greatest joy is giving these disparate elements a new life with my
creations and allowing another chapter in their history to unfold, even if this
history is an imagined one.
